• Ain Shams University: AinShams University was founded in July 1950, on February 1954. The University was changed to “Helioplis”, and then changed in the same year to its present name “Ain Shams”. “O'n” University was established about 5000 years ago, and it had a wide fame as a center of knowledge and learning, especially in astronomy, engineering and medicine. The University is now located in the area of Zaafran Palace, built during the regime of “Khedive Ismail” the palace was named because the area surrounding it was famous for saffron (in Arabic Zaafran) plantation. The University includes 15 faculties and 2 higher research Institute more.
 

• Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences: This faculty is one of the newest faculties in the Ain Shams university. The faculty prepares the undergraduate and postgraduate student to address the challenges of the new world of interactive networked multimedia , distributed computing, information high ways…ect. According to the prepared plans, the faculty members and the research students will contribute to several research fields like: Theories of computation and cognition to support the design and analysis of complex interactive systems.
Models of intelligence, to support intelligent information systems.
Computer and network systems to support very large networked multimedia and distributed databases.
Models of tasks, activities, and information flow to support the creation of new modes of human-computer interaction.
Vision and robot systems for making machines that operate flexibly in the physical world.
Algorithms and data structures to support large-scale of computation and visualization more.

International Journal on Intelligent Computing and Information Systems (IJICIS): The international journal of intelligent computing and information sciences is a biannual refereed journal published by the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Ain Shams University. The editors will be pleased to consider new and significant papers from academic, research, and commercials sources in subjects covered by the journal.
This journal provides a forum for the state of the art research and development in the fields of Scientific Computing , Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Operation Research more.
