As we started the third
millennium, it became clear that our world has entered an era where
most of its activities are conducted and offered over open channels of
computer networks such as the Internet. Commerce activities, bank and
business transactions, government services, secret communications, and
more are now done by sending packets of digital information through
the Internet. Such activities and services are only possible if
communications are conducted in a secure manner. Effective solutions
for securing communications over open network channels are based on
techniques such as cryptography, steganography, and watermarking. File
encryption, digital signatures, password-based user authentication are
some of the most cryptographic techniques; information hiding in cover
media are another way for securing and copyrighting information using
steganographic and watermarking techniques. This special session aims
to provide a unique platform for sharing the ideas and work done in
the field of information security and related areas. The academicians
and researchers along with industry counterparts can exchange the
valuable work done in this field. The scope of this session is, but
not limited to:
-
Computational aspects of security protocols.
-
Cryptography and cryptanalysis.
-
Covert/subliminal channels in cryptographic protocols.
-
Authentication, Authorization and Access Control
-
Steganography and steganalysis.
-
Watermarking and its applications.
-
Watermarking in the encrypted domain.
-
Database Security.
-
Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems.
